The University of Bayreuth ranks among the top 20 per cent of universities in Europe: in the current QS World University Ranking: Europe 2026, it ranks 187th out of a total of 958 ranked universities and colleges. The University of Bayreuth has thus improved its position compared to previous years – despite an increase in the number of participating universities.
The QS World University Ranking is one of the most prestigious international university rankings. Since 2024, the Europe-wide QS ranking has been listed as a separate ranking and evaluates European universities according to quality indicators such as academic reputation, research, internationality, and student learning experience.
‘Our ranking among the top 20 per cent of European universities confirms our commitment to combining excellent research and teaching with international networking. We are particularly proud of the many opportunities we offer our students to gain experience abroad. This shows how much we promote and live international exchange,’ says University President Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Stefan Leible. The University of Bayreuth will continue its efforts to create a cosmopolitan campus, global networks, and diversity in practice, as anchored in its 2021 internationalisation strategy.
